It Takes Two to Tango!!

Wat huist er onder het wateroppervlak van de IJssel? En hoe klinkt het daar? De geluidswandeling It Takes Two to Tango!! neemt je mee in de onderwaterklankwereld van deze rivier. De geluidswandeling voert langs en over de IJssel (met een pontje) en is als een dans, met een route in de vorm van uitvergrote tangopassen en met te beluisteren geluidscomposities die soms liefelijk, dan weer dramatisch, maar altijd ritmisch klinken. Kabbelend water, klakkende vissen en gierende buitenboordmotoren: mens en rivier vormen samen een danspaar, eeuwig met elkaar verbonden, ten goede of ten kwade.



Route en geluid
De route en geluidsbestanden worden online beschikbaar gesteld, via een ter plekke te scannnen QR-code. Noodzakelijke apparatuur voor deelname is daarom een (opgeladen) smartphone met QR-scanmogelijkheid en een koptelefoon of oortjes voor optimale luisterervaring.

Data en tijden
De geluidswandeling wordt aangeboden in het bijzijn van maker Ingeborg Entrop op de volgende data: 5 juli en 6 september. Starttijdstip is steeds 13:30 uur. Geschatte duur van de wandeling is ca 45 min. Omdat een oversteek met een pontje onderdeel is van de geluidswandeling, is de totale tijdsduur mede afhankelijk van de wachttijd voor de afvaart.

Locatie
Startpunt van de wandeling is het pleintje met het PAK-36 kanon, onderaan de Wilhelminabrug, ter hoogte van de T-kruising Welle, Bokkingshang, Pothoofd. Na een korte introductie starten we daar met de geluidswandeling. Ieder loopt deze in diens eigen tempo. De wandeling eindigt bij de bankjes langs de IJssel naast het IJsselhotel, aan de overzijde van de rivier. Na afloop is er gelegenheid om ervaringen te delen met je mededansers. Totale lengte van de wandeling is ca 1,5 km.

Kosten
Deelname aan de geludiswandeling is gratis. Een vrijwillige donatie is welkom. Kosten voor de oversteek met het pontje zijn voor eigen rekening (€1,90 voor een retourtje). Aanmelding vooraf wordt zeer op prijs gesteld! Klik hier voor het aanmeldingsformulier.



Achtergrondinformatie over het werk
De geluidwandeling It Takes Two to Tango!! is in 2023, toen onder de titel IJssel No5, ontwikkeld voor de expositie Transtonations in Museum EICAS te Deventer. Die expositie was de eerste uiting van het gelijknamige en nog lopende project, waarin een groep internationale kunstenaars is gevraagd te reageren op een tango-étude van Astor Piazzolla. Omdat de tango is ontwikkeld in de smeltkroes van overzeese culturen aan de oevers van de Rio de la Plata, en dus zijn oorsprong aan water te danken heeft, heeft Ingeborg Entrop in haar bijdrage aan Transtonation water als leidmotief gekozen. In Deventer heeft dit geleid tot een samenwerking met de IJssel voorbij de grenzen van de alledaagse zintuiglijke waarneming.

What lives under the water surface of the IJssel? And how does it sound? The audio walk It Takes Two to Tango!! takes you into the underwater sound world of this river. The audio walk leads along and over the IJssel (with a ferry) and is like a dance, with a route in the shape of enlarged tango steps and with audio compositions to be listened to that sometimes sound lovely, sometimes dramatic but always rhythmic. Rippling water, snapping fish and screaming outboard engines: men and river form a dance couple, forever connected, for better or for worse.



Route and audio
The route and audio files are made available online, via a QR code to be scanned on the spot. Necessary equipment for participation is therefore a (charged) smartphone with QR scan option and headphones or earphones for optimal listening experience.

Dates and time
The audio walk is offered in the presence of maker Ingeborg Entrop at the following dates: July 5 and September 6. Starting time is always 1:30 pm. Estimated duration of the walk is approximately 45 minutes. Because the audio walk includes a crossing with a ferry, the total duration is dependent on the waiting time for its departure.

Location
Starting point of the walk is the square with the PAK-36 cannon, at the bottom of the Wilhelminabrug, close to the T-junction Welle, Bokkingshang, Pothoofd. After a short introduction we start with the audio walk from there. Participants walk in their own pace. The walk ends at the benches along the IJssel next to the IJsselhotel, on the other side of the river. After the walk there is an opportunity to share experiences with your fellow dancers. Total length of the walk is approximately 1.5 km.

Costs

Background information on the piece
The audio walk It Takes Two to Tango!! is in 2023, under the title IJssel No5 , developed for the exhibition Transtonations in Museum EICAS in Deventer. That exhibition was the first expression of the still running project of the same name, in which a group of international artists have been asked to respond to a tango etude by Astor Piazzolla. Because the tango was developed in the melting pot of overseas cultures on the banks of the Rio de la Plata, and hence owes its origin to water, Ingeborg Entrop has chosen water as leitmotif for her contribution to Transtonations. In Deventer it resulted in a collaboration with the IJssel beyond the boundaries of the everyday sensory perception.
